Unlike traditional methods, it uses only threads, avoiding glue, keratin, or metal beads. This technique offers flexibility for various hairstyles. Brazilian knot extensions, also known as "elastic fusion" or "Italian knot," are gentle on natural hair, creating a seamless and long-lasting look. Below is a detailed description of the hair extensions weft method Step by step of our technique Selection of hair extensions High-quality virgin hair extensions are our go-to hair to ensure the best fit for your hair. The hair should be as close as it can in texture, length, and colour to the client's natural hair to achieve a seamless blend. Preparation Before the application, the natural hair needs to be washed and dried to ensure it is clean and free from any product buildup. The stylist may also trim the natural hair to create a seamless blend with the extensions, usually done after the installation is complete. Sectioning the Hair The natural hair is divided into small sections to create individual anchor points for attaching the extensions. These sections are done considering your scalp shape and hair density. Looping Technique A loop is created at the root of each section of natural hair using a threading technique. A small elastic thread is passed through the loop and around the section of hair. Attaching the Extension After creating the loop, place a section of the hair extension weft onto the row of loops. Then, sew the wefts securely using our special thread to firmly hold the extension in place. Blending and Styling After all the extensions are attached, the stylist will blend the extensions with the natural hair to ensure a seamless and natural look. The hair can be cut, styled, and treated just like natural hair. Maintenance and Removal Proper maintenance is crucial to keep the weft extensions looking their best. This includes regular brushing, avoiding harsh chemicals, and using hair care products suitable for both natural and extension hair. Weft extensions can typically last 8 to 12 weeks. It's your responsibility to follow your stylist time for your maintenance. On our maintenance, we always remove the extensions and reinstall them. We believe that this is the best way of always assessing our client's scalp health. These curly extensions serve as the ULTIMATE solution for individuals transitioning from chemical straightening, experiencing hair loss, or craving immediate length and volume for their mane. ABOUT BRISBANE'S BEST CURLY HAIR EXTENSIONS 1. Method We only offer curly hair extensions in weft method . This selection is meticulously chosen due to its superior aftercare and maintenance requirements, ensuring optimal quality and longevity of the hair. 2. Length Despite the availability of curly extensions, they tend to sell out rapidly due to high demand, particularly when considering colour and texture preferences. To address this, we use an exclusive technique to craft curls from straight hair. That said, expect a loss in length ranging from 5 to 10 inches (10 to 30 cm). Bear in mind your desired length as you may require longer hair for the final outcome accordingly to your curl pattern. 3. Aftercare Maintaining curly hair extensions requires special care. Daily detangling and separating the rows are essential. Keep your hair hydrated with moisture-rich products, including a leave-in mask and daily serum. To preserve the curls and prevent tangling, sleep on a silk pillowcase or wear a silk bonnet every night. 4. Maintenance For curly hair, maintenance is crucial every 8 to 10 weeks. Curly hair is prone to tangling more easily than straight hair, so adhering to this timeframe is essential to prevent knots and minimize damage. I highly recommend this schedule, especially for clients with fine hair. 5. Textures Due to the superior standard and quality of our Brazilian hair range , we offer patterns ranging from 2A to 4A (see Figure A). These patterns can be provided in both natural (2a to 3a, although slightly more challenging) and custom-made options. A consultation is a must to determine your appropriate pattern. Given that most clients have at least two different patterns, our meticulous approach ensures impeccable results. 6. Styling If you prefer straight hair despite being a curly girl, our curly extensions may not be suitable for you. Our curls are achieved through a chemical-free process, and frequent thermal straightening (blow drying and straightening) can cause them to lose their shape. Depending on the customization and health of your extensions, redoing the curls may not be possible. Now, you love your curls, and all you want is to rock them, but sometimes are in the mood for a little change, you can totally indulge in a blow-dry session (yep, just once in a blue moon or even less). Just remember to slap on that heat protector and keep your locks moisturized and nourished. Our curls are naturally dried, and let's face it, dehydrated hair is a recipe for breakage and frizz – ain't nobody got time for that! 7. Colouring If you're considering changing the colour of your extensions, here are a few important points to keep in mind: a) For natural dark extensions: Depending on how light you want to go, there's a limit to how much we can lighten the color without risking damage to the curls. Going too light may result in losing the curls permanently. b) For natural light extensions: We have more flexibility to achieve a higher colour lift, but it must still be done cautiously to avoid damaging the hair and disrupting the curl pattern. Regardless of the change you're contemplating, Babalu strongly recommends having it done by a professional and conducting a patch test beforehand. Additionally, please note that we cannot be held responsible for any services performed outside of our salon. 8. Treatments Alright, curly queens! Listen up because our curly extensions deserve some serious TLC – and maybe even a bit more than what you give your natural curls, dare I say! After all, we've invested in these beauties, so let's make 'em last for years, shall we? Make it a ritual to moisturize them at least once a week. You can create your own hair care schedule or get your hairstylist to help you out. Trust me, treating your hair weekly will leave you with hair that is stronger, softer, and shinier – who doesn't want that, right? And guess what? You don't need a whole new set of products for your natural hair and your extensions . Our Brazilian hair is raw and natural, just like your own hair. If you feel like they need a little extra boost, go ahead and treat them to a professional treatment – just make sure to keep those curls intact! My experience with extensions Like many Brazilians, I started straightening my hair when I was 14. Back then, curly hair wasn’t widely accepted in our society. There was so little knowledge and so few good products for our hair that most moms, who either didn’t know how to care for curly hair or didn’t like it, thought straightening was the easiest option. Finally, in 2019, I decided it was time to embrace my curls and show my raw self. I won't lie, it wasn't easy, but that is a story for another time. After many (many!) months of blow-drys and weekly treatment masks to navigate this process, by 2021, my natural hair was 80% back. I had the curls, I had healthy hair, but I didn’t have the length. After continuously searching for someone in Brisbane who could give me what I wanted, I came across someone who seemed to be the answer. Long story short: I wasted money on terrible hair quality, not enough grams, unmatched texture, and it was the biggest disappointment of all. I remember thinking, "How come there isn’t one person in this city doing curly hair extensions?" A few weeks later, I found the course I wanted to take and practiced hard enough to attach extensions on myself. And yes, ladies, I GOT THE LENGTH. I GOT MY DREAM HAIR. AND my confidence was back! I knew with all my heart that I had to do the same for other curly girls out there. We too deserve to have long, beautiful, and voluminous hair with quality and longevity. Consequently, Babalu was born. Our aim is to provide, serve, guide, support, and cheer our curly babes. But don't think we forgot our straight and wavy girls (never!). Our biggest and foremost commitment is to have all of our clients leaving the chair with a heart full of self love and their head rocking their crown - and the highest quality and most pretty one. But why Brazilian hair? First, I am Brazilian, so it's easier for me to find gold-class suppliers since communication is a big thing. Second, our hair is widely known for its excellent performance in the hair extensions industry. I had the upper hand. Brazil is a multinational country with five to seven major ethnic groups and dozens more minor ones. The mix and match of our population created lovely mixtures of textures and colours. Hence, our hair works well with almost all hair types. Its quality also allows us to create unique natural blends and customizations, and when done carefully, the integrity of the hair isn't compromised. Below you can check my own journey throughout the transitioning period to when I got extensions for the first time and finally installed my own extensions. 2018 - Chemically straightened since was 14 y. 2019 - Highlights and last straightening for farewell party. Here started my transitioning period. 2021 - Finished transition. Here my hair is styled. 2021 - February. I tried hair extensions for the first time. Installation day 2021 - Next day after washing and before coloring 2021 - A couple of weeks later I did the colour correction. Hair couldn't take the process. Clearly not virgin. 2021 NOV - Before installing my own extensions after learning from the course. 2021 NOV - New hair and after trimming 2023 - My extensions nowadays. I cut the length a bit because it was too much hair for me during summer. Highly regreted it after haha How long does Brazilian hair extensions last? Remy hair: it already come in a wide range of colours. However, it can be toned darker or coloured to suit your hair characteristics. Remy hair are used only on clients that have straight hair.
